friendly car :( will be very sorry to see my beloved `Betsey` (as we nicknamed her) go..bought her in november 2011 to do up and keep - managed to have all the mechanical work completed and MOT passed so just the cosmetic work left and she will be fully restored to her former glory and worth a lot of money.V5 present, part service history and all receipts for work I have had done present (see below), MOT certificate valid till 06/02/2013 present, taxed until 09/2012 and case of spare parts present.Since owning the car I have had all of the following done by a VW specialist:- exhaust box replaced (along with new fittings and twin tail pipes)- o/s rear brake cylinder replaced- both rear brake shoes replaced- steering damper replaced- brake fluid changed- full service (29/11/2011)- replaced fuel hose- o/s axle replaced- oil change- new original air filter fitted- points reset- new air hose- new vacuum hoseplus a few other misc bits done - receipt to showalso had the below done at a local ford garage at time of MOT;- bulbs realigned- loom for indicators and side lights re-worked- new horn fitted- new washer switch and reservoir pump- washer switch and supply hoses re-worked- new nsf head lamp bulb- bulb reset adjuster re-worked(Total cost of around £850)Car is now in perfect mechanical condition for its age with all needed / relevant work done and completed professionally with genuine parts all that needs doing by lucky purchaser is purely cosmetic and optional but for your information below would be required to fully restore:new front bumper - cost approx £40 from just beetle2x new sills as current ones are rusted under cover and require replacement - cost approx £14 each from just beetlerub down, rust treatment and full respray (if wanted) was quoted at £800 - 2weeks work at a specialist garage in Norfolk where vehicle was from (if you wanted to replace the bonnet one can be acquired online for around £45 new)patch up / new seat covers for front seats as small tear in top of each - see picsStarts first time every time - even if been stood for months and drives well in all weathers - including all that snow we had over the winter - incredibly economical - approx £50 will fill tank and go forever so it seems lol! cheap tax and insurance too! It had no MOT, and wouldn`t get through the MOT as both heater channels were rotten, along with the bottom of the A pillar on the drivers side. This was exactly what my wife was looking for, the intention being that she would do a full body off restoration with my help. Parts were purchased and the strip down commenced. Then a number of personal things happened combined with my manic work load which meant progress stopped, followed by pregnancy and our new arrival. As our evenings after work now revolve around NOT waking our son after he goes to bed (angle grinders don`t soothe babies to sleep), we are not going to get to complete this car. It is a crying shame for such a fundamentaly decent car to go to waste.The car is overall pretty solid. The intention was to do a full restoration. We spent a few weeks in the evenings with angle grinders chasing filler patches and exposing botched repairs. All the major body parts needed were purchased and are included in this sale.The body has been separated from the chassis to do a proper job of the heater channels, and also to sort the affected body panels on the rear quarters. Before doing this, we built a bracing structure in the door openings (see picture) to preserve the alignment of the body.The car was complete when we purchased it, and no parts have been thrown away. Every thing has been stripped and is in boxes or in the loft or in the back garden under covers. The car itself has been under a heavy duty Bettle car cover. The floor pan, chassis and body are sound (with the exception of the bottom of the door pillars, the heater channels and the rear quarter panels). There is a lot of surface rust from being under cover on the driveway - a major reason to sell this beautiful car so someone can complete it. This really is just surface rust, and will clean back to metal ready for a quality paint job.Chassis - Complete, floor pans solid.Body - Heater channel on drivers side cut out, new channel in position but not welded. Original heater channel on passenger side still in, but needs replacement. - Brand new pattern channel in boxDrivers side door pillar rotten at bottom of pillar, new part ready to go in (can be seen sat on the floor pan in one of the pictures)Both rear quarter panels rotten through - Have brand new pattern panels ready for someone to cut and weld in.Rear triangles/ bumper mount points - These have had the old rotten bits cut off and new parts welded in.Some other rust around body notably at the bottom corner of the windscreen and the `nose` of the front of the car.All the wheel arches are off the car, and will be supplied with the car. These are in quite good condition, and will just require sanding and filling before paint.Doors off. Drivers door was 80% filler at the bottom (it stood about 1/2" proud of the line of the car!) The rotten part has been cut out, and a new pattern repair panel welded in place. Will need tidying up.Bracing structure (see photo) welded in place so maintain body shape while separated from chassis.Body is separate from chassis, although has been sat in place on the chassis. We have none of the body bolts as they all had to be ground/ drilled/ wrestled out of the old heater channels.All body glass present. Drivers door window is out of door, but in one piece.Engine-1300cc Dual port engine. Removed from car so we could get body offTinwork for engine in ok-ish condition. Stripped from engine with the intention of replacing with shiny new bits. We have all the original tinwork (in rusty blue)Original exhaust manifold present.Original heat exchangers present, along with some used but very good condition replacements sat in the shed.Carburettor, inlet manifolds etc all stripped from engine, but present.Engine seems to be in good condition, with not a lot of end-float (measured with a DTI, don`t have the recorded value now, but was well within VW specs).Interior-All in good condition (for a 40 year old car) and sat in our loft. With the exception of the door cards which were de-laminated and very tatty. These have been thrown.I can take any number of photographs and email them to you or answer any questions. The car and all it`s bits are free to view, if you can message us to arange viewing.This car will need trailering away. All the bits can be put into the car/ boot of towing vehicle, but I do not have time to start re-assembling.A lot of the screws/ nuts/ bolts will be missing, as most of them were siezed or had vibrated out. Please bear this in mind, although it`s to be expected on a restoration project.Everything described, and any other bits related to this car that we have lying around are included in the sale. We are only looking to get some of our money back on this car, as we want to see it go to someone who can get it back on the road, and also because we need to free up our dirveway. in the garage, it`s about time it found a new home. It has a new MOT and tax disc. Bodywork is sound, there is some rust, mostly stone chips, I have dinked the os front wing and the paintwork is a bit faded. Would look stunning with a respray. The interior is very good and it is mechanically sound. I have lowered it at the front on drop spindles, front disc brakes, REMTEC 1600 twin port engine with electronic ignition, Webber 32/36 DFEV dual choke carb, EMPI single quite pack exhaust, EMPI short throw T-bar gear stick, electric washer bottle, CD/radio installed in the glove box, speakers front and rear, retro roof rack.
