I bought it, it had just cracked the headlamps (which have been replaced by brand new ones) and bent the front of the bonnet and cracked the bumper, I managed to get a bonnet, bumper and grill in the same colour which have been fitted correctly, as have two new rear springs, (totally unrelated to the accident, but needed changing anyway) It has since been checked by VOSA and they have issued us with a Vehicle check pass certificate to say that it is roadworthy and it is still the same vehicle that came out of the factory. I heard from the previous owner, that the accident was in the snow and it was so light that it didn`t even set the airbags off, so nothing structural, because I bought the car for my wife, so I wouldn`t have got her a car that would in any way be compromised. The rear windscreen tint also has bubbles around it. The oil warning light is on but this is due to a faulty sensor, I replaced this for £40 last year after going through a puddle and it`s happened again so i left it. The car needs a clean both inside and out, also the glove box wont close by itself so is held closed by tape**** All of these are age related, bodywork is not perfect. however it would make a nice little project!! mileage is genuine!!! This is ultimately rare and good luck trying to find another one, especially in this country! The car has also undergone a full engine rebuild, with the original engine. | Where to start!? The original 1.1L engine has been stripped apart, cleaned and smoothed for better air flow. New gaskets all round; engine is running sweet along with the gearbox. New oil pump, filters, gaskets you name it, and it has been done. I had even painted the engine parts, and colour coded them. Had custom hoses made, along with chrome goodies! I had also managed to source down a power flow back box for this model, which is fitted! It has a 1.3 camshaft, and a weber 34ich carb which i brought NOS. | The interior is all original, with original seats, headlining, parcel shelf, carpets, etc. The seats are clean but have some stretched on them, but hey what you expect for a car that’s over 30 years old!? Also includes an alpine head unit. | The exterior has been professionally re-sprayed in original colour (Mars Red). Car drives like new, you would not believe it has covered 177k miles, the engine is almost silent with no knocks or noises whatsoever hot or cold, gearbox is perfect also, no crunching of the gears or any noises at all. Clutch is fine, in fact I have a reciept for £380 for new clutch and flywheel in 2011. No oil leaks.I can not over stress how good the mechanicals are but appantly these go forever. Interior is good, no usual wear and tear to seat bolster, just needs radio fitting. I have a rolling road printout from a year ago reading 212 BHP!!!!! I have a reciepts about an inch thick for work that has been done and service history/old mot`s. Thousands have been spent on this over the years.I would welcome any inspection, due to the nature of this vehicle it is sold as seen. service history and has covered 84000 miles. Cambelt was changed at 64000. I`ve spent just over £2000 getting it just as I wanted. After a lot of research into alloy wheels I went for a set of 17" Audi TT competitions. This size gives the least change to the speedo reading and does not tramline like 18"s do.(Ok, 18"s do look better but at the sacrifice of handling and ride comfort) The tyres are Kumho`s and have plenty of tread left on them having only covered around 2000 miles. The ecu has been safely remapped as I didn`t want to wring every last horse out of the engine and overstrain anything. Currently its producing 185BHP (35 on top of standard) The guy who remapped it managed to get it up to 195. There is a Forge diverter valve and an IGN panel filter fitted. Also, as its a 2001 it didn`t have aero wipers so I`ve fit a set of those. The shocks are standard but the springs are Eibach Pro-line which lowers the car by about 35mm. The front and rear valance are both genuine Anniversary VW parts. The side skirts are genuine VW R32. The rear spoiler is a standard GTi one. Also the exhaust is a genuine Anniversary part. The inside of the car is in very good condition with not rips to the cloth seats. The outside has no dents or scratches just a few stone chips on the front end. Now, the bad bits...(not many) The rear discs will need replacing within the next year. There are about 1200 miles left before the next service is due. The central locking does`nt open the boot. Originally this conversion was installed by JBS Autodesigns in Chesterfield as was all the modifications. Modifications include Spax coilover suspension all round, Eibach Anti roll bars front and rear, all fully polybushed underneath. It has a MK3 Golf GTI 16v gearbox and cabling system fitted which is better than the mk2 and a full stainless steel exhaust system. Its had a new Turbo Technics turbocharger, Timing chain, oil pump and new tappets fitted less than 200 miles ago with docs to prove. Theres a few bodywork mods including fully de locked all round, Bonrath Badgeless grille, single wiper conversion front and de wipered rear. Theres also a shortened rear number plate recess, G60 wider arches all round, Clear headlamps, custom one off made wing mirrors and Kahn 17" wheels with brand new 205-40-17 tyres. Isotta steering wheel and gear knob. The car has remote access and protected by a Viper alarm system. She is a stunning 3 door model in Reflex Silver with full black leather, 102k on the clock, 4 owners (the last owner 4 years) and a FULL SERVICE HISTORY of VW, AMD or Specialist Garages. She has 6 months tax and MOT until December 2012. I purchased her from a dealer so she still has 3 months warranty left of the 6 months I got at the time of purchase (I have had no problems with the car), I will have this transfered to the new owner at my cost. The car is stunning with very few marks around and an excellent interior with no rips. If I am honest the bad bits are: - Slight mark inside drivers door sill (see photo)- The wheels are good but do have some signs of curbing.- The O/S headlamp has a crack as shown in photo (I have a new glass which may be fitted by the time of sale or given to new owner to fit). She drives great, no noises or smoke and the power is superb as you would expect from a VW. fun / weekend toy as I had a basic 8v as a younger man (I am now 54) and always wanted a 16v with all the extras. The reason I am now selling is because the novelty has now warn off and the car has only done about 200 miles since the last MOT in December most of which was a long run. The Tax and insurance run out in July so its time for some one else to own this iconic Golf. As you can see from the pictures this car is in immaculate condition inside and out and has not been messed with as is in original spec with the only modification being straight out 63mm tail pipes from a standard exhaust back box which I had done when I first had the car because I liked the look but did not want a noisy exhaust. Every thing works as it should and nothing is missing or broken. or repair` but it`s still in daily use, it starts 1st time, will run all day at 70mph and is reliable and still returns 57 + mpg (data from on board computer read out) and comes with a MOT till 28th. July 2012 Tax ran out April 2012, I will re-tax on my insurance at YOUR expense if you want it taxed ASAP (cheap road tax on this car).I`ve owned this car for 6 years and done most of the miles, it comes with Dealer Service history only up to 135.000, it`s been maintained by me and has had regular oil and VW filter changes, wheel bearings, etc. it`s been used as a family `work horse` and has been used but NOT abused, it comes from a Non smoking pet free home...it DOES REQUIRE WORK AND MONEY SPENDING ON IT, please note that it`s not just the engine that`s done 260K but EVERY PART on it which means it`s far from `new`, IT CAN BE SEEN AND DRIVEN BEFORE the end of the auction. So here it is "warts `n` all"...This car would suit a mature driver who commutes regularly from A-B and needs good MPG (57+mpg) or a VW fan. this won`t be any use for the `school run`, 1st gear is a little `notchy` and can be difficult to select without double clutching, all the other gears are fine.The main problem is electrical (NOT electronic), a wire going to the alternator chafed on the bodywork and this has caused a problem with the ECU, I`ve disconnected certain wires to get it running BUT had to bypass the Temp. gauge and Glow plug `lamp` ( the glow plugs are connected to the temp. sensor for `heat` duration) and by doing so, for some reason the ECU now won`t allow the turbo to `cut in` on acceleration so the turbo does not `boost simply because the ECU is`nt getting any information back from the Temp. switch, it still returns 57mpg but `pick up` is like that of a Mk3 non-turbo ...ya, great!I will show you exactly what`s been disconnected so that you can go away and go through it in your own time.IT NEEDS NOWAn alternator...Battery is`nt being charged all the time, only if you `blip` the throttle, it will then push out 14.4V but not for long, so NOT enough voltage being produced (Volt meter tested and battery less than 2 years old) so requires regular charging, will run Ok at night with lights on.2 New tyres (part worn if you want to?) ...2 below limit or will be very soon.Windscreen...windscreen is cracked (see photo) and won`t pass MOT due to position of damage.Tail lamp needs bulb.Problems not MOT specific, Sunroof is stuck in `tilt` position,NS mirror cap needs fixing, tail lamp needs bulbIt`s had fitted over the last year:-OS wheel bearing, OS lower ball joint, Air filter, Pollen filter, Fuel Filter, Oil filter. or repair. | Only two previous owners | Piles of FULL service history and receipts which has mostly been done at the local VW main dealer. | Car comes with 6 months MOT and is taxed till the end of August. | It has recently had a full set of Federal tyres which all have 6-7mm on | It had brand new discs and pads all round less than 500 miles ago. | It has had a recent bottom arm and ABS sensor in the last 1000 miles | When i purchased the car it had 85,000 miles on, I put a new turbo on at this point, air mass meter and coolant temp sensor. | Around a 10,000 miles ago I had AP performance springs and dampers fitted as the originals had gone a bit soft. At the same time I fitted an Allard EGR delete kit which improves fuel economy and stops dirty diesel smoke entering the inlet manifold. | The car is fully loaded and includes: | Electric windows | Automatic Climate control with air con and a electric sunroof (very rare to have both) Air con was Ice cold and have never had any problems. | Central locking with remote key fob (Two keys, both with remote fobs) | Cruise control | CD player | Trip computer | Centre arm rest | Electric and heated mirrors | Rear head rest and 3 full rear belts | 6 SPEED Gearbox with no crunches or wines. | Engine Code: AJM 115BHP | The car easly does 500-550 miles per tank of fuel which works out to around 50MPG. I have seen it as high as 60MPG on a long run. | The body work on the car is excellent with only very minor scuffs and scratches. The only two noticeable marks on the car is a slight bit of rust on the passengers side front arch and the boot lid has the common bubbling around the handle and a 8in scratch on the boot lid its self. These are both very minor bits that could easily be tidied up. It also has a small area of scratches on the drives door which looks like somebody has been rubbing up it with something. This looks like it would polish out with a machine polisher. As you can see from the pictures it really is in fantastic condition. The interior I would give an 8.5 out of 10 with only a few scratches to the drivers door plastic where the controls are. Again a common occurrence due to the material it is made out of. If you were really picky you can buy these from VW for around £20. Other than that I would like to see a cleaner interior on a MK4 golf. Before I bought the car I don`t think the rear seats had ever been sat on and the boot had never been used. Both are still in as new condition. | The wheels do not have any kerb marks on but a couple do have some slight corrosion (another common problem on VAG wheels. Again nothing which detracts from a fantastic car.) | Unfortunately last week on my way home from seeing some friends in Norfolk the car broke down with a suspected injector fault. The car was recovered and on inspection has damaged one of the big ends. I am selling the vehicle as spares or repairs which really breaks my heart has it was such a fantastic car until this happened. I would prefer to have it fixed but as I need a car I have already purchased a replacement as I could not wait. | The car is being sold on a spares or repair basis. Another MK4 golf with the same spec as this with as low miles fetches around the £3000.00 mark. has been dry stored since. The interior is in good condition, only slightly faded over the years. The front seats have had some upholstery work to the usual elbow patches. The whole body including the underside is rust free and the chassis is very solid. The Karmann body kit is genuine and came with he car from new and the car has four immaculate polished rim wheels with white multispoked centres. The manual hood was professionally fitted by the well rebound Biewlowski`s who repaired parts of the mohair lining and replaced the roof tensioners, the roof id made from red dura twill fabric. Apart from the alloys and the new hood, the appearance of the car has not been modified in any way and retains its classic charm. The only modification which is a very common one is that the carburetta has been upgraded to a twin choke webber. The car is also fitted with a Hornet Max One (Cat One) proximity alarm and immobilisor with integrated remote central locking. The car has also had a VOSA Vehicle Identity Check (VIC). This is due to the vehicle being damaged slightly by a third party. There was a small dint on the front wing, a small dint on the rear quater, and a smashed wing mirror.
