The car never fails to start and is such a reliable motor even after 22 years, yes it has a couple of niggles but all in all its a pleasure to own and drive, so here we go... | Mot`d till 4th April 2013 Taxed end June 2012 | 8 valve standard engine having covered 168,000 miles, mileage will still increase as its in use daily, only modification to engine is a full stainless exhaust Jetex exhaust system | Bodywork is in very good condition for age, few stone chips on bonnet, single light badged grill, 2 other grills included in sale twin headlight (original) and single headlight (debadged), the bootlid has been delocked and handle removed, a button of a mini cooper has been added where the number plate lights are, it has been done to a very high standard, there is a bit of rust just coming through around the petrol filler flap, and also the rear bumper has flaking paint above the exhaust, see pictures of both of these | Suspension is lowered on adjustable coilovers, its set at just a nice height, looks good, and speed bumps arent a problem | Nice deep dish VW 15" alloy wheels with locking nuts, Toyo proxes tyres all round with plenty of miles left in them | Interior is beautiful, Golf Rallye half leather seats all round with leather door cards, overall in good condition, couple of very small holes in the seats, manual windows, trick little wolfsburg mirror adjusters, original VW rubber floor mats in front, Cobra immobiliser, Pioneer cd headunit with remote and box, pioneer 4 way 6x9 speakers in rear parcel shelf, speakers in front door cards and also in dash, other wise the interior is standard. | I have a shoe box full of history with the car and also a diary like book with all sort of things previous owners have done, there is a few spares with the car, grills, speaker pods, wheel brace and jack, | Like i said above the car does have a few niggles, it is 22 years old after all, i mentioned above about the rust around the filler flap, the flaking paint above the exhaust tailpipe, the horn doesn`t work for some reason, it hasnt bothered me (hand signals work just as well) and there is a slight oil leak i think from the sump gasket, may just want a nip on the bolts | all in all this is a very good example of a rare hot hatch, it never fails to put a smile on my face, it is very responsive and handles like a dream and looks very nice when its clean and polished. It has covered just over 100,000 miles in its life and is quite clean. There is some small scratches and stone chips which any car of its age has but none are major in my opinion. There is a small amount of rust that has started to show at the lower edges of the front wings, i have showed this in the pictures. | MOT until January 2013 | Power steering | Electric windows | Central locking | Alloy wheels | Uprated rear exhaust box | Uprated induction filter | New battery fitted | There are a few things that need repairing which are: | 1. 1 front wheel bearing is noisy and needs replacing. | 2. 7 owners from new(low for a 16v)...every mot certificate and most some old tax discs...3 keys original vw alarm...amazing amount off reciepts history etc...and very rare colour (royal blue) rarer than oak green. | This car started life as a 1.8 16v, but was heavily modified by AMD tuning...shrick camms were fitted, ported and polished head and a 2.0 litre bottom end, full stainlees exhaust, 4 branch manifold...end result is a 182 bhp monster...it comes with a amd porfolio with bhp graphs fueling etch etcc and a floppy disc to view on the pc...AMD is not a mickey mouse outfit...very respected company in the tuning scene...this car is fast and lots of fun! Since owning the car I have fitted a new alternator, heater matrix, spark plugs, distributer cap, rotor arm and carried out an oil with filter change...The previous owner fitted a new power steering rack, clutch and replaced all the gear linkage bushes...I have also fitted some crystal headlamps...I have an amazing amount of reciepts for this car! I am only selling for two reason first is ...I have no time to use/and keep in storage, second is I originally bought this to do a 20v t conversion...but soon realised that the power and condition off this car I would have been crazy to spoil such a rare clean mk2 16v...you have heard this before but it has to be said there is not many in this condition left...especially with a engine like this.. The only faults with this car are...the horn stopped working after i put the steering wheel on (prob something silly, i just haven`t had time to look at it)...the rear wiper does not work, the rear washer works so think it`s just the motor at fault...the spots of rust as pictured...the exhaust knocks on the rear beam at idle due to worn exhaust rubbers...the drivers seat is worn and the door cards on the front are showing signs of ware...both the rear tyres are low on tread...these are just things I have not had time to do and do not affect the drivability of this amazing car! Ok , joking apart , here are the usual good and bad points .GOOD POINTS .Leather interior , electric front windows , immobiliser / alarm with remote locking , CD player In the last 18 months or so I have fitted new clutch , (it was very heavy ) , new in tank fuel pump , new front discs and pads , 15" BBS Wheels , (2nd hand ) , original 14" ones are available , new front engine mount and new timing belt and new rear suspension beam bushes , all of which are common problems at this age and mileage , so there shouldn`t be any mechanical issues to worry about .Engine runs beautifully , gearbox has no selection problems and is mechanically quiet . Car drives well . My next step was going to be uprated suspension but this is not necessary for general use. It goes without saying that oil and filter and fuel filter have been changed .BAD POINTS .Some TLC needed to bodywork , in particular drivers side rear door , see photo . Driver side front door hinge needs replacing ,(bottom ) . Drivers seat bolster is worn , see photos , but again this us a very common problem with GTIs of this age , leather or not . GTi 16v 3 door in gorgeous Tornado Red. This is a rare opportunity to own a piece of modern motoring history with the MK2 16v being considered by many to be the best car VW have ever made. This car is the very sought after 90’ spec model with the updated interior and larger bumpers. As you can see from the pictures this car is in what can only be described as fantastic condition for its age. Please do not get this car confused with most other examples available, this car is a true collector’s item benefitting from comprehensive service history and being completely standard, right down to the cassette holder in the centre console and plastic covers on the wheel bolts. Please read below for more details: Engine Standard 1.8 16v engine produces 139bhp and still pulls as strongly as the day it left the factory. The car starts and runs quietly and smoothly and still has fantastic performance. I’ve used the car regularly for the last 6 months and it is simply a joy to drive. It does use a little oil and could do with the valve stem oil seals replacing in the next few thousand miles. It doesn’t put out any smoke when driving but puts out a little bit on a morning at idle. I’ve used the car like this for 6 months without issue. The car is 100% reliable and has never missed a beat in the few thousand miles I have covered in it. The car has the standard 5 speed manual gearbox. Mileage wise the car has only covered 139,000 miles from new. That’s an average of only 6200 miles per year throughout which the engine has been regularly serviced as outlined below. Bodywork As you can see from the pictures the bodywork on this VW Golf is in exceptional condition for a 22 year old car. This car has never been welded and there is no rot or rust holes anywhere. There are some very tiny blisters around one of the front wiper holes but that is it corrosion wise. There is a small dent on the leading edge of the bonnet and a few small carpark dents on the body but nothing that you wouldn’t expect from a 22 year old car that still has most of its original paintwork. You can see by looking at the car just how genuine and original it is. The underside of this vehicle is probably the best I’ve seen on any classic car. The floors and sills are all straight as a dye with no dents or marks from incorrect jacking and no rust or signs of any previous repair. It has to be seen to be believed just how straight this car is underneath. Interior The interior is again in nothing short of exceptional condition for its age. It has the grey with contrasting red pattern sports seats with matching doorcards. The dashboard, centre console and headlining are black as is standard in the GTi. Condition wise everything inside the car is in fantastic condition. The seats are immaculate with no wear or holes on the driver’s seat as is so common on these. Even the bolster foam is still hard. The dashboard, carpets, headlining and contrasting plastics are all in A1 condition also with no holes or exceptional wear. The space saver spare wheel and full tool kit is still all present and correct under the boot carpet. Specification wise the car comes with: Cassette Player, Electric Windows, Power Assisted Steering, Height Adjustable Driver’s Seat, Sunroof. All of the above are in perfect working order and are original factory fit items. Exterior The exterior is as it left the factory coming with the 15” BBS RA alloy wheels as were standard fit on 90’ Spec 16v models. They have a few scuffs on them but are generally in very good condition. All four tyres are in great condition with over 80% tread still remaining. The car has the factory fit rear spoiler, front foglights and 4 light grill with red surround as standard. ICE and Security. In dash Cassette player and cassette holder with standard 6 speaker sound system. I also have a matching CD Changer that will come with the car but the new owner will have to purchase the connecting lead. The car comes with factory central locking and both keys are present including the original ‘16v only’ key with its original holder. Service History. This car has wanted for nothing all its life and comes with comprehensive documented service history. The service book itself has 14 stamps in it showing that the car was serviced by VW Main dealers and specialists up to 2001. There are also stamps showing services at independents and Kwik Fit over the last 4 years. The last service was carried out 2000 miles ago. In addition to this there is a mountain of receipts showing additional servicing on top of what I’ve already mentioned as well as for additional parts and wear and tear items over the cars 22 year history. The timing belt was last replaced at 127,000 miles and the clutch replaced at 115,000 miles. The paperwork also includes every MOT certificate from new. You can quickly see looking through the service history that this Golf has been loved and well cared for all its life. The MOT expires in October and the car is taxed until the end of June. The car is fully HPi clear and has never been subject to a total loss claim. In summary, this is a fantastic example of this much sought after classic car. Mk2 Golf’s are getting very hard to find in this condition. Spend £500 getting the alloys refurbed and the valve stem seals replaced and you easily have a car that is worth £3,500+. If the car doesn’t sell I will do exactly this and demand top money for it in the summer. the auction early. I have had the car for 4 years. I bought it with 30,000 miles and the car has now done 50,000 miles. Almost all of my miles are motorway miles. The car is fast, looks great and is ultra reliable. In the time I have had it the only problems have been a flat tyre and a flat battery! I`m only selling as I am getting a campervan. It has about 10 months tax and MOT. I has all the usual GTI features you would expect e.g. decent sound system, heated seats, A/C, alarm, immobilised and 18" alloys. Original VW jack etc. Full size spare wheel. There are a few very minot bad points that I am aware of: 1. Scratch on bonnet (see photo). This is quite deep. No rust.2. Chip on wheel arch (see photo). Easily repaired.3. Some paint peeled off on bumper (see photo).4. Latch on glove box broke which I repaired myself. Only visible as a screw when glove box is open.5. Alloys are scratched. modified in any way. Only 2 owners since new - my fiancee is selling only because she`s getting a car through work. Recently passed MOT and taxed until end of October. Blue recaro sports seats in very good condition. Remote central locking - we have both keys. 6 CD multi-changer, air conditioning, electric windows throughout, electric wing mirrors, driver and passenger airbags. Just had new exhaust, lower front bushes and front tyre. 102250 miles, which is much better than average for the year. Bad points: needs new radio aerial (about £5-10 online). Will need one new tyre before next MOT - all the others are new or nearly new. Arm rest spring has come off but we have the part and it can easily be mended if you`re more handy than me. The whole armrest moves fine but the top flap is loose. There`s a tiny dent in the bonnet, you can just about see it in the pictures - it`s very small but could probably do with a touch up of paint. Dash display flashes `oil sensor workshop` when you start up the car. Didn`t affect the MOT at all, garage said it`s a broken sensor but haven`t fixed it as not essential - oil is fine, and the engine runs perfectly. Hairline crack in passenger wing mirror - been like this for years and never an issue. This is a fantastic car to drive and has been well looked after. 99p start, low reserve. Very well maintained. To spite its written 128bhp and its GTI pedigree the Polo seems to return good MPG`s 30-50 dependent on whos driving.Its finished in silver with gold pearl which is a factory colour but not all the GTI`s came with this pearl paint.The 16 inch alloy wheels were on the car when we bought it and are kerbed but have a matching set of tyres on with good tread. Everything else is standard and unmolested including the double din radio, cassette and cd player. She is also equipped with factory xenon headlights, climate control, air con in good working order, electric windows and remote central locking.Only bad points are minor cosmetic imperfections which are scuffs on the front bumper molding, one each side but not really noticable and a broken fog light glass priced up at around £20 on ebay. add it to the final price. Info: Just passed MOT - got it in early - so it`s got 12 months. The interior is great overall. The wipers all work (even the back one!) the switches all work, the dash is good. There is very little rust, some on the doors (see pictures). It has a mint spare wheel and jack but needs a wheel nut-wrench to change the wheel (see picture). It will come with a Sony CD Player though the volume knob has come off, though this is still easy to change the volume (see picture). The CD player has an aux port for an iPod. Has a full service history, with book stamped plus receipts for the work i`ve had done. I`ve had it since November 2010. Since buying it, I’ve had the following done to it (what I can remember!), spending over £2,000: new headlights wheel bearing kit battery oil filter spark plugs head set head bolts timing belt 2x brake pipes brake fluid 2x handbrake cables tracking 2x tyres brake calliper x2 brake pads brake discs brake fluid rear brake pads rear brake pipes new exhaust new cooling fan & motor & wiring wheel balance The only things i`m aware of that may need sorting are as follows and they are small things: There is wear on the driver`s seat (this is usual for these cars - see picture); The back of the inner roof lining has come away a bit due to some water getting in from somewhere at some time (see picture). I have kept this up with a staple gun. Not the most professional job, but it does the job;The rear nearside door handle cannot be opened from the outside due to the lever snapping off. journies. I have owned the care for a year now and havent had any problems with the running of it. It is a 54 plate and has only covered 59,000 miles. It was recently serviced privately by my friend but unfortunately he was unable to stamp that it was done, however i do have receipts for the parts that were changed. It has MOT till end of december and tax until June. Ats Cups, which are in a good condition for their age, just have slight scuffing where previous owner kurbed them slightly so could do with touching up but this never really bothered me enough to get done as arent that bad. Lowered on Ap coilovers and also still have the standard suspension which i will include in the sale. Scorpian backbox, i also have the standard backbox which can be included. The tyres are all only a few months old so all have good tread. Cloth interior is in a resembly good condition and has no stains or tears. Engine cover has been spray painted but this can easily be sprayed over or replaced. Speakers have been changed to kenwood speakers. Some bad bits.. unfortunately due to the cars age and the fact i have to drive on a dual carriageway on a daily basis the paintwork on the front bumper is chipped and could do with a touch up. However this is expected of a car of 8 years old. The airbag light is on but after reading up on the forum i see this is a common fault for most Lupo Gti`s. Car will not be sold with the dvd unit and sub that are in the pictures as i wish to keep this for my new car, unless somebody is willing to buy it seperately then i will consider keeping it in the car along with the sub. Originally this conversion was installed by JBS Autodesigns in Chesterfield as was all the modifications. Modifications include Spax coilover suspension all round, Eibach Anti roll bars front and rear, all fully polybushed underneath. It has a MK3 Golf GTI 16v gearbox and cabling system fitted which is better than the mk2 and a full stainless steel exhaust system. Its had a new Turbo Technics turbocharger, Timing chain, oil pump and new tappets fitted less than 200 miles ago with docs to prove. Theres a few bodywork mods including fully de locked all round, Bonrath Badgeless grille, single wiper conversion front and de wipered rear. Theres also a shortened rear number plate recess, G60 wider arches all round, Clear headlamps, custom one off made wing mirrors and Kahn 17" wheels with brand new 205-40-17 tyres. Isotta steering wheel and gear knob. The car has remote access and protected by a Viper alarm system. fun / weekend toy as I had a basic 8v as a younger man (I am now 54) and always wanted a 16v with all the extras. The reason I am now selling is because the novelty has now warn off and the car has only done about 200 miles since the last MOT in December most of which was a long run. The Tax and insurance run out in July so its time for some one else to own this iconic Golf. As you can see from the pictures this car is in immaculate condition inside and out and has not been messed with as is in original spec with the only modification being straight out 63mm tail pipes from a standard exhaust back box which I had done when I first had the car because I liked the look but did not want a noisy exhaust. leather interior throughout which is in amazing condition and I`ve had the front calipers and wing mirrors painted bright red. The car has a fully working sunroof which is great in summer.When I first got the car It had a straight through pipe exhaust which sounded like a bus, so i fitted a much more sophisticated standard one, which still sounds pretty good, and the previous owner upgraded the brakes from standard to Golf GTi ones :D . Its also had a new alternator as the old one wasnt charging and it had a new clutch fitted last year. Ive looked after the car as best I can, cleaned and polished it regularly and serviced it on time. These cars are well known for having dodgey gearboxes and being driven fast but I had know trouble driving to Scotland and back without any hiccups at all.
