anything about the VW 1.9tdi engines you`ll know it`s the best engine to have. Plenty of torque and exellent fuel economy and mega reliable. The car has covered 145,000 miles but it had a new engine fitted by VW at 35244 miles (we have the VW invoice totalling £7923.22 on 23/11/2007) so the engine in this car has covered 109756 miles. We have just had the clutch and dual mass flywheel replaced at a VW specialist and we have the invoice for this which cost £500. We were told the old clutch would have probably lasted another year but we wanted to get this fixed so we did. The car has lots of main dealer service history and the last few services have either been done by myself or the local garage. The engine runs very well and 99% of the time is used on the motorway so it is not stop starting all of the time like some city cars. The hood is in good condition and works normally and is very easy to use as it is electrically operated. The cambelt and tensioner was replaced at 96240 by a VW main dealer, we have the invoice for this also. The 6CD stereo is superb - a really bassy feel and great when you have the roof down listening to your favourite songs driving down a country road in the sun! There are a couple of marks on the bumpers but not excessive for age. The driver`s door window does not auto drop when you pull the door handle any more so we just use the key fob unlock button and the window drops fine this way. Also the fuel cap release button has not worked since we`ve owned the car so we just use the manual release in the boot. The car has front and rear park sensors. There is also a Parrot hands free kit fitted (the one with a display that shows your contacts) We have the original VW Beetle wind deflector also which comes with the car. It always passes its MOT easily and is very solid. It is also very cheap to insure under a classic policy . It reads as having only 13000 miles which looking at the condition of it, could be correct. I don`t have any history with it unfortunately so cannot guarantee this be correct ??? The car has been converted to right hand drive and seems to be a professional job. I recently collected it from stamford and drove from stamford to Nottingham and then down to Brighton without a hitch! So she is reliable (i think these cars always were!) I did have a Karmann Ghia a few years back and it was bulletproof!!!I think the MOT is due soon, I haven`t checked but I will put 12 months on it before the sale. Everything works on it as it should. The steering column cover is missing underneath but should be obtainable from Volkswagen Herritage. The paintwork is good but does have a couple of scabs around the wings, again easily sorted. to own and has never let me down. The car has been well looked after throughout the time I have owned her and I have put a lot of time and effort into getting her up to the standard she is now. She is only ever used occasionally on the weekend (when the weather is good) and for going to shows. I always keep the car dry underneath a stormproof breathable cover (which will be included in the sale). The car is mechanically sound, has a lot of character, lovely paint work and is very solid underneath. I have kept a big pile of receipts for parts and any work I have had done to to her, I also have quite a few past MOT certificates. Here is a list of all restoration work and modifications that I have made since owning her. Exterior The car has had a full respray. (I still have some paint left over if its ever needed) She has new pre 1967 front and rear wings to give that old school look. New wing beading all round. I have fitted brand new US spec headlights with indicators inside and early style tailights with red lenses. She has brand new doors and rubber seals which cost me around £600.00. New after market running boards. Brand new front valance and blanking plate. New bonnet seal. Billet aluminium aerial. Metal pressed number plates. I have a custom made cream/purple cheque bonnet bra to be included in the sale. Interior She has rare US spec. front seats. Inertia front seat belts. All seats have been covered in new cream TMI seat covers which look great (these have a woven effect finish to keep an original look). Cream custom door cards and matching cream parcel shelf. Headlining is original and very clean. I have installed a Sony Xplod cd player and Kenwood 6x9 speakers, these are running off a leisure battery which has a split charge relay so both batteries are charged when the engine is running. Original carpets. Mechanical The car has been fitted with a brand new adjustable 4” narrowed beam on the front. She is fitted with air shocks which can be controlled via a compressor inside the car, this means the car can be lowered and raised at the front by the flick of a switch (the car can be slammed down to the floor!) The car is lowered 3 splines on the rear and has been notched. This gives the rear wheels an awesome camber angle. The car has had a new front disc brake conversion with new brake lines etc. New rear drums. She has dropped spindles on the front. A new fuel tank has been fitted with new pipes etc. All of these modifications have been professionally undertaken by Ben Lewis at Evil Bens Drop Shop/Autostyl, who`s cars are often featured in Volksworld magazine and others. The car sits on cream steel wheels. Front tyres are 145/65/15 continentals. Rears are 195/50/15 Falkens. (all tyres have loads of tread) Engine The car has a 1600cc twin port engine which pulls very well. She has a new 75amp alternator. Pertronix electronic ignition. Empi GT exhaust (Sounds great) J tubes. After market rocker covers. After market bottom & top pulley. Any pieces of pipe etc. that have needed changing have been seen to. The car drives fine, all gears can be selected easily and the gearbox feels nice and firm. The car does have some light surface bubble rust (mainly on the bonnet, gutters and the rear quarter) I have paint left over from the re spray if you did ever need it to touch these areas up. Also, as with any car of this age, she will drop a couple of spots of oil after a long run. Apart from the couple of small areas of attention the car is good to go and ready for the shows! He was very particular about servicing; initially servicing at our local VW garage and then onto a VW specialist, who I have continued to use. Good bits: Top has to be the low miles! It`s done just 45k miles, with history and MOT records to back this up. This is an average of 4k per year, and honestly this reflects in the great condition of the car. As you can imagine, the seats look great, as relatively to another car this age, they`ve barely been used. The carpets are immaculate as they`ve always been covered by mats.A brand new MOT and service - stress free motoring and purchaseThe power; 2.0 litre petrol engine means the car is pokey and quick off the mark at the lights, quick to power past tractors etc on country lanes if need be.The heated seats, heated mirrors and fogs (winter pack?!) make it a brilliant car to drive in all weathers. These were optional extras and do not come as standard on Beetles.fVWsh - complete service history and both keys.Size; It`s brilliant on motorways because of the pokey engine, yet due to the size, it makes an ideal city car, small and easy to park with a deceptively big boot for pushchairs or shopping! It currently has two car seats in the back, but the back is big enough for adults too.This car has never been smoked in, never carried pets, or suffered from damp - so no foisty smells!You could stick a private plate on this car and it would feel like it was 4 years old rather than 11! I am selling because I`d really like a 7 seater so we can give the Grandparents an airing to the coast occasionally. Bad bits: The exterior of the car is close to immaculate, there are a couple of minor marks on the door panels if you look really closely, probably from car doors in supermarket car parks, but nothing has cut through the paint anywhere. The back VW badge has seen better days, and perhaps if you`re ultra ultra fussy you may choose to replave the rear number plate as it`s a little blackened at the top. The Interior is in super nick too. The worst part is the sleeve around the gear stick could do with replacing as this has torn (see picture) and the plastic around the central arm rest is peeling (common in Beetles) and the spring catch came off the central arm rest. Drivers car mat is showing wear, could be replaced/removed. I`ve taken lots of photos of the outside of car but if there is anything in particular you would like to know please shout! 5 years and invested loads of money in it but only done 250 miles in it in all that time - hence the sale. heater chanles,full front inner and outer wheel arch pannels,full rear inner outer arch pannles, rear quaters, full front clip brand new wings doors pretty much everthing from the windows down has been replaced and also genuine vw pannels were used i do have some photos of the resto. Then all the body work was done the wings have been molded to the body which looks fantastic then it was resprayed in gloss black. All this work was carried out around five years ago, the underside is still like brand new as you would expect from having genuine vw pannles used in the restoration, the bug has been rewired so all new wiring all the breaks have been redone including all pipes and master cylinder the engine runs spot on with plenty of power from the 1600 motor. The bug is nice and low and has a lowered beam on the front its been lowered 2 splins at the rear, the stance looks amazing. The bug has new slopping head lights back and front, new horn grills, new carpet set, new chrome louvered fire wall,new chrome 3 spoke steering wheel,new T bars, new beauty rings all round also 2 new one peice window kits and glass has a nice retro old skool radio in the dash. So heres the bad pionts the 2 front seats have rips in the bases but i have just put seat covers over them not a big job to replace and cheap to theres always seats on ebay , the body work is mint has a high gloss shine and waxes up beautiful but theres a few little marks here and there and some very small bubbles here and there to but nothing you would notice,you have to look close up to see them, the doors and the rear quaters are very straight with no dints to be fair its a mirror finish on the paint , other than that its a lovley bug and people love it every were i go. The exhaust in the pics has now been changed for a standard one as it was to loud. it fairly standard and have done alot of the work myself£3000 ONO about the beetle:1971 1300 model kansas beige beetle in good condition.the car runs a 1600 engine with fairly new barrels and pistons professionally by the previous owner (all paperwork to prove work). the car pulls very well and i believe the engine and gearbox to be in great conditon. i have kept the beetle serviced myself and recently changed the driveshaft gaitors and changed the gear box oil. I have also recently replaced all fuel lines throughout, including braded hose into the engine bay and relocation of the fuel filter to out of the engine bay. I drove the car over to European bug in in Belgium last July, which the beetle did not once let me down. 900 miles in a weekend and not a trouble. empi exhaust which sounds really nice but does have a bit of surface rust. the body work is generally good condition apart from a bit of surface rust around the headlights. also has surface rust on both door bottoms however I have just recently bought two doors, which are in better condition than the the ones fitted. the replacement doors are the same colour and also have all windows and quarter lights and near new window seals. a can of touch up paint is included with sale. (perfect match) i have fitted a set of europa bumpers to the car with a later one on the front so the indicators are in the bumper. fog light fitted to the front bumper. the car is on Empi 8 wheels with near new tyres on. i also have a fifth empi 8 included with the sale with no tyre.over £500+ spent on the whole front end this year alone, 4inch narrowed beam from slamwerks, dropped spindles, new wheel bearings, new ball joints, new track rod end, new discs and pads last year. (no more than 1500 miles on discs and pads.) the car has KYB GR2 shocks on the front so ride is not bouncy at all.at the back I would say it is two splines. i have lowered it one since i have owned the car. the interior of the car is in great condition. all seats are not ripped or damaged and in great condition., i have fitted a cd player in the glove box to preserve the standard dash. i have also made a speaker box using a old school suitcase which sits on the parcel shelf of the beetle. the door cards a beige in colour 1200 style i believe.all electrics on the car work great.i have made a custom headliner for the inside of the car using hundreds of old school beer mats on the roof. i think this gives the inside of the car a really good character. however included with the sale is a perfect condition headliner which obviously would just need fitting.for the last MOT the car needed a little bit of welding done which was done professionally. there was one bit on the sill and another on the inside rear wheel arch. these were both done to a great standard. the MOT tester that tested/ failed the car first time assured me that bar these two bits of welding the car and especially the floor pans were in a great, rust free state.the beetle will come with lots of spares including standard door cards, spare seat belts, t- bars and many other little spares as well as spare service, which I carry for any unexpected break downs!!the car has been real labour of love over the past 2 years and i will be sad to see it leave, but wanting a van the beetle needs to go as i cant afford to keep both.the car is fully HPI clear and certificates are here to prove.car is located just outside salisbury wiltshire. any questions do not hesitate to PM me or contact me on my mobile No. 07841473606 the car is advertised elsewhere.contact me for further pictures and info.cash on collection.cheers X | £3000.00 | |||||||
