I regularly see up to 45 mpg average on motorway runs, 40mpg overall, you can do even better if you drop the speed a bit and I have seen 50 mpg average on some journeys, pretty impressive for a 13 year old BIG car! Great handling from the double wishbone front suspension. Excellent private plate included, previously valued at £600. I elected to keep it on the car because I think it suits her well. The original plates are included but there is of course no guarantee that the DVLA will reissue that registration if you choose to request it. Tow bar with single electrics fitted I have used this once to rescue a friend’s Smart car on a borrowed trailer so I can confirm that it tows really well and the electrics work correctly. Passats regularly run to intergalactic mileage if well cared for (I have driven one with 220k miles on it!), this car could be a loyal servant for many years/miles to the new owner. The last MOT was passed with no observations or advisories. | The less good bits: She`s 13 years old and has a few honest scuffs and scrapes around the bodywork thanks to the usual selfish and disrespectful morons out there. Nothing that detracts from the overall great looks and nothing that has damaged the paint where it could lead to rust. The wheels are a bit tatty, I haven’t let that bother me because I know full well that the day after I put on new ones, or refurbish these ones (they really do look right), I`ll drive into a big kerb! It`s a matter of personal preference, many upgrade to bigger rims, some quite bonkers big because the Passat can take them. The fuel filler flap does not lock – I think a previous owner has disconnected or broken the solenoid.. Some interior trim parts marked/worn as you might expect from a car of this age including some cracks to the plastic encased wood veneer on both front doors and the shifter handle. Again, these have not been a problem to me but the perfectionist may wish to change them. | The mechanical stuff: A good service history comes with this car, much of it in the original book (up to 123288 miles it was sericed by VW only), however, I have taken on the servicing myself since I bought her back in February last year as I have access to specialist help from a good friend. In my care she has been treated to regular oil and filter changes, new brakes all-round, fuel filter, injector leak-off pipes, anything that has needed attention has been rectified (including some typical Passat wiring and door lock issues - now they ALL work correctly!) and, most crucially, the engine has just received a full cambelt service including all belts, tensioners, idlers, water pump, thermostat and fluids. A bundle of receipts and notes included. Recently I have had 2 new keys made and programmed (there was previously only one but it’s knackered – included for security reasons, along with the “secret key code”) and fitted new mats, new rear mudflaps (spare fronts come with the car), new front upper arms and a new engine undershield and 2 new tyres. Mileage is currently just under 164500 and will change as I’ll be using it until sold. | My reason for sale: I have decided to move back to a smaller manual car as I want to be able to compete in club motorsport again. car has to go. Since we have owned it I have changed the cambelt and water pump, put a new clutch and flywheel in it, and had new injectors fitted by vw. It has all the extras you can imagine and more. Bixenons, cruise control, multi function steering wheel, Sat nav, Ipod connector, Bluetooth phone built in with a key pad on the dash, Leather heated seats, Parking sensors front and back and much more. The mot is up on the 4th of June so we will be putting another one on before it goes. Also the tax is till the end of December this year. All the tyers have laods of tread and the alloys don`t have many marks on them. The body work is pretty good. The odd light scratch but when pollished they can`t be seen. The hpi is clear but when I had the injectors changed by vw they said something about the milage possibly being incorrect. It reads 81k and the service history backs it up so not sure what that is about. A genuine car worthy of a good home. 2 keys and v5 in our name. Any questions phone on 07749731025. No silly offers. Spare key – yes there is a spare key, both remotes are working Tyres – All four tyres are matching Dunlops in good condition, very good tread remaining – front pair nearly new. Fitted to alloys which are in decent nick. Spare wheel is a full size brand new Dunlop, comes with locking key, jack, brace etc. Condition :- Bodywork is in really good condition for its age and mileage. There are no noticable dents, marks, rust etc. In fact all we can find are some car wash scratches on the offside front wing (see close up). As with every car there is the odd very light very small scratch or stone chip, but for a 12 year old car this is very tidy. We understand that buying from eBay is hard enough, so we believe in trying to give as much detailed information about our cars in the listing as we can, including any bad points, or damage. Just because we choose to mention defects up front, doesn’t mean that all ebay sellers do. So please bear this in mind when comparing vehicles which only mention good points. Remember there isn`t a used car in whole world which doesn`t have a few marks and the odd squeak! Interior is in similarly good condition, its all complete and working, and reasonably clean and tidy, I`m not a valeter so budget for one! No pet hairs, no cigarettes, no nasty stains so its not too bad. The electric windows, mirrors, radio, heater etc all work as they should and the air con works its ice cold. Please note we store our eBay cars on the family farm, so please don`t expect forecourt standards of valeting and polishing. On the road :- It drives very well as you would expect. The front discs and pads were fairly worn, so we`ve replaced them this week. The engine pulls well and is nice and quiet - no nasty noises, no smoke either! Gears nice and smooth clutch bites well – maybe a little high but there is no slip, even on third gear start off. Its the 1.8T model so goes well and is reasonably economical. No warning lights on. So there you have it. 1 owner, fantastic service history and in excellent order. Granted there will be cheaper Passats of this age on eBay, but there won`t be many better looked after ones. 4 years and in that time has never missed a beat! | At the moment it is still used daily until my new Passat arrives. | We have been on many UK holidays and have even driven her right down to Spain and you never feel for one moment that it would let you down! (it is a VW after all) | This car is in fabulous condition and finished in deep metallic blue. I will very confidently say that the first person who views this car will buy as the condition and the drive are truly amazing. You will not find another 2004 car in this condition and it has wanted for nothing. | No knocks or rattles, totally HPI clear, engine coolant temperature maintains a constant 50% on the gauge, does not use any water or oil, engine is very strong being the 130PS version it really does pull well and virtually irons out hills when driving up them, even when fully loaded! Gearbox is nice and tight and the gear changes precise. | As this is the Trendline model (next one down from the top spec Highline model) it benefits from Digital climate control and cruise control along with control buttons on the steering wheel. | This Passat is one of the later B5.5 models so has some nicer refinements over earlier models such as, indicators on the wing mirrors, larger dashboard computer display, this shows the radio station as well as informing you when the washer bottle needs topping up and which doors are open on the car etc, etc. Fuel economy is great, returning between 45-58mpg depending on the road type and avarage speed. | I currently have my own private plate on the car which I will be transferring to my new one as soon as I pick it up.
